Tips for purchasing a used
W126C SEC |
| |
1. Check the ABS systems function
(malfunctioning sensors)
2. Corrosion under the rearwindow inside the trunk roof
3. Tempomat (cruisecontrol) function, should not "surge"
4. Climate control, check that it produces cold air
5. Adjustable steering wheel, check movement
6. Powerwindows should move smoothly up and down
7. Same thing with the sunroof
8. All checklights should glow with engine off [ignition
on] and they go out when the engine starts (check ABS light
especially)
9. There is NO "bad year of the W126C SEC
My recommendation is to buy a well
maintained SEC with everything working from the beginning.
That will be much more expensive to buy initially, but this type
of well maintained car will in the long run ALWAYS end up
costing you less than the one cheap with little "DIY".
Costs for repairing a large Mercedes is very seldom a cheap and
easy operation.
To sum it all up : A nice looking well maintained car is always
the best investment.
"Take care of your Mercedes-Benz it will reward you for that
over many years" |
